Before swimming

• Wet your hair with clean water to reduce how much chlorine/salt water the hair absorbs.

• Apply a generous amount of inexpensive conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends.

• Tie your hair into a loose plait before getting in the water.

• After swimming

• If possible, rinse your hair with clean water as soon as you get out.

• If you're heading straight to sunbathe, leave your hair loose and check it regularly for tangles.

• Avoid leaving your hair tied up while it's wet for long periods.

Back at your accommodation

• Double shampoo your hair to remove chlorine, salt and sunscreen residue.

• Apply conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends.

• Use a nourishing hair mask or leave-in treatment.

• Dry your hair thoroughly, paying particular attention to the bonds

Sun protection

• Use a mineral SPF where possible - some chemical sunscreens can cause discolouration of lighter hair extensions.

• Avoid getting sunscreen directly onto the extension hair whenever possible ie from shoulders etc

Extension Discolouration

• Chlorine, minerals and certain sunscreens can sometimes cause blonde extensions to develop pink, orange or peach tones.

• Do not rely on purple shampoo - purple shampoo only tones the outside of the hair and won't remove build-up trapped inside the hair.
